Safety tips
Most scams in Bangladesh follow a few patterns. Knowing them is the best protection.
Shopping on Facebook and online
Avoid paying the full price in advance to a seller you don't know. Prefer cash on delivery, or pay a small booking amount only.
Be suspicious of prices far below market, pressure to pay "right now", and pages that only accept bKash/Nagad to a personal number.
Check the page's age and history, and search its number and link here before paying.
bKash, Nagad and Rocket
Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone — no agent, company or official will ever ask for it.
"I sent money to your number by mistake, please send it back" is a common trick. Check your real balance in the app and contact the provider's helpline instead of sending money.
Calls claiming your account will be blocked unless you act immediately are scams.
Jobs, loans and investments
Real employers do not charge fees for jobs or visas through personal accounts.
Loans that require a "processing fee" first are almost always scams.
Guaranteed high returns (for example 20–30% a month) are a warning sign of Ponzi and crypto schemes.
If you were scammed
Save every chat, screenshot and receipt. Report the number to your mobile wallet provider immediately — sometimes the money can be frozen.
File a General Diary (GD) at your police station or contact the police cyber crime unit.
Report it here so others are warned.
